Sea Hawk FGA.6 XE327 at Hermeskeil, 8th August 2025; Jake Wallace

XE327 was delivered to the Royal Navy in March 1955 before it was retired to the RNAY Belfast Apprentice School in 1967, where it acquired the serial A2556 and was used for ground instructional purposes for a couple of years before being transferred to the No.1 SoTT at Halton in 1971.

Once the school had finished with the aircraft, it was moved to Llangennech in Wales, where it could be seen guarding the gate from 1984, although it wasn't a resident for long, as it was sold to Trout Lake in Kings Langley in March 1988, where it joined Sea Vixen XJ494. Both airframes kept each other company for several years before they both moved to Bruntingthorpe under new ownership in 1999, where it was then given a new coat of paint. However, this was short-lived, whilst XJ494 still remains at Bruntingthorpe today, XE327 went on an overseas adventure in 2002, arriving at the Flugausstellung P. Junior Museum, Hermeskeil in Germany, where it is still on public display.

Today, she can be seen outside amongst a wide variety of aircraft on display in Hermeskeil, tied down to the floor with two concrete blocks near the main U/C, chocked with wooden blocks, and the nose wheel stand in a stand bolted into the concrete - they really don't want her moving around! The aircraft has some minor corrosion, and the cockpit has suffered from the ingress of water as well as the canopy clouding over.
