R.kirlew was my grandfather. who had two sons one who was my father has died. There are two books Test Pilots by Don middleton and Avro manchester the legend behind the Lancaster. Where it's mentioned in both.linda

My father Derek H Broome was one of the three survivors of this crash; he was taking instrument readings in the back of the plane and was 19 at the time. Derek was injured with burns. He died in 2009 at the age of 86. I have the tip of one of the Propellers of L7295 in my bookcase. Derek went on to serve in the Fleet Air Arm on HMS Formidable in the assualt on Okinawa in 1945.
