The monument was erected mainly by the efforts of Mr. Gordon Usher. Who was a fine gentleman, God Father & friend of my fathers.

As. A 14 year old playing in the Greencroft, Salisbury saw the aircraft flying very low seconds before it crashed. A recent visit to Salisbury found a monument in what is now Churchill Gardens in memory of these herotic airmen - RIP

Frank Cooke was my father and I am told they saved a lot of lives that day by staying with the plane and keeping it in the air until it was away from Salisbury.

I was walking up Wain-a-long rd in Salisbury when the plane flew over and then dived into the ground at Bugmore nr Salisbury. 9yrs old and on my way to Sunday school.
