Hunter F.6A XF418 at Hermeskeil, 8th August 2025; Jake Wallace

Built by Armstrong Whitworth at Baginton, XF418 served with the DFLS, 229 OCU, and the TWU and retired to RAF Laarbruch for BDRT duties in 1984. RAF Wildenrath soon got hold of the aircraft and moved it to their base for display in Blue Diamonds colours.

On the closure of Wildenrath, the aircraft was acquired by a museum near Hermeskeil and was placed on display in 1999, and remains there to this day, still sporting the Blue Diamond colours, which seem to be holding up well. The canopy has also held up surprisingly well, with it only clouding over completely in recent years.
